The Piedmont region encompasses 100s of vineyards and is dotted with picturesque castles.  The rolling hills and hilltop towns offer up a panoramic view of endless vineyards.  They are displayed like a quilt in opposing directions and colors, but come alive with their rich aromas.  Calling all foodies looking to experience the slow food movement and sip on the finest wine Italy has to offer.  This tour will take you into the hills of Piedmont to find truffles.  You’ll enter into a wine cellar centuries old and learn the making of some of the regions beloved wines like Barolo and Barbaresco.  Transport your palette to an area of Italy known globally for the finest wines, a true destination for food lovers.  Explore the area by foot and inhale the tapestry of the vineyards. Take part in a cooking class and bring home a bit of Piedmont with you.  Relax and unwind with a morning yoga class.  We end this trip on a beautiful island in Lago Maggiore, where we continue to unwind leisurely like a true Italian.

Day 1

You are on your way to the most visited country in the world.  Even though Italy sees more tourists and travelers then any other country, the area of Piedmont is the road less travelled you are looking for.  A perfect blend of food, wine, scenery, culture and soft adventure.  Your journey through Piedmont will be entirely by private transportation.  A Via Mondo professional guide is at hand to assist you along the way. Be prepared to be wowed by the landscape, food and people.

Day 2

A private driver will greet you at the airport and take you to the hotel.  Along the way, learn about the area and soak in the gorgeous scenery.  Spectacular Turin is boarded by the Alps.  A beautiful site as you enter into the city. After we settle into our rooms, we explore Turin’s elegant tree-lined boulevards and Art Nouveau cafes on this chocolate tasting tour.  (D)

Day 3

Your day to explore Turin’s famous Egyptian museum, take a guided tour of the palace or just meander through the covered city sidewalks.  An excellent city for shopping.  You will see the most representative places of the Italian Renaissance in the city of Turin.  Buildings, stories, characters, palaces: everything in Turin is a symbol of royalty, government and elegance.  (B)

Day 4

Today, we are on our way to the Langhe area.  Before we meet Carlo and Steal, we shake our legs out with a short and easy hike.  Truffle hunting is the most exciting experience for an enthusiast. You will be accompanied in the woods, looking for truffles from an expert trifulau and his precious dog. (B)

Day 5

Perhaps you would like to start the day with an hour of gentle yoga overlooking the breathtaking mountains of the Langhe region.

Opt-in on the cooking class and uncover the secrets of Italian family recipes on your travels. Your host will share their wisdom, which has been passed down in their families for generations. Immerse yourself in a private cooking class. Spend the day with a scheduled spa treatment and savor the views. See the Langhe area on e-bike or cycle your way through the vineyards.  An expert cyclist will accompany you.  (B)

Day 6

Discover the famous flavors of the Piedmont wine region, honored as a World Heritage site and named a Top Ten Wine Travel Destination by ‘Wine Enthusiast.’ Visit several local wineries to taste distinctive regional varietals of Barolo with a stroll through the museum and castle in the town of Barolo.

Discover the Piedmont town of Alba, and learn about its connections with fine food and Roman ruins. As you stroll the streets of Alba, you’ll discover gems such as the Cattedrale di San Lorenzo and the baroque and medieval architecture around the historic center. (B/D)

Day 7

If you like, begin your day with a few stretches to loosen up the legs.  We spend an unforgettable day in the Piedmont countryside hiking along side a patchwork of rolling vineyards. Take in the sights along a 6-mile (10-km) trail loop. We end up in Barbaresco where we taste this regions favorite. A private tasting in the tower with panoramic views.  (B/L)

Day 8

We head to Lago Maggiore where we’ll end our days relaxing on Isola dei Pescatori, a fisherman’s island.  With time to spare, we take in the sites of Stresa and soak in the lake breezes.  (B)

Day 9

A free day to explore the beauty of Lago Maggiore.  An optional moderate yoga class over looking Lago Maggiore is a great way to start the day.

There’s no better way to see Lake Maggiore’s Borromean Islands than by private boat.  This tour allows you to travel in true Italian style around Isola Bella, Isola Madre and more.  A farewell dinner on the island where we share memories, food and wine with our new found family and friends.  (B/D)

Day 10

Arrivederci.  A private water taxi and transfer will take you back to the airport.
